Performing Clinical Review for a Prescription

Once you have completed the Technical Validation for a prescription, an authorized pharmacist can proceed to performing the clinical review and sign-off for the prescription in the Clinical Review tab. The Clinical Review tab contains a prescription dropdown at the top which shows the total number of detailed prescriptions for the patient. To select another detailed prescription for this patient, hover your cursor over the dropdown and select a prescription.

The Clinical Review tab contains the following sections:

To perform Clinical Review for a prescription:

  1. Review all of the clinical review sections:
    • Patient Information
    • Prescription Information
    • Clinical Information
    • Notes
    • Audit History
  2. Select the Profile button to review the patient's profile. The Patient Profile window opens.
  3. Select the Interactions button to view any interactions. The Interactions Summary window opens.
  4. Optional: If dialogue with the patient is not required (e.g. for refill prescriptions), select the Dialogue Not Required checkbox.
  5. Note: Selecting this option will bypass the Dialogue step within the Prescription e-Verify module.

  6. Once you have reviewed all the appropriate sections, select the Sign Rx button. The Pharmacist Signature window opens.
  7. Sign with your signature and select OK.
  8. Result: The prescription moves into the Dialogue tab. If Technical Validation is also complete, the official receipt, privacy receipt, and medication record (depending on Thermal Label Preferences) will print.

Viewing the Patient Profile in the Clinical Review Tab

To view the patient's profile in the Clinical Review tab, select the Profile button. The Patient Profile window displays the patient profile information from PharmaClik Rx where you can view all the prescriptions filled for this patient.

Viewing Interactions in the Clinical Review Tab

To view if there are any interactions in the Clinical Review tab, select the Interactions button to open the Interactions Summary window.
